In the framework of the "Protemic" EU MSCA Joint Doctoral Training Network, we are delighted to offer 3 PhD positions on the development of Interband Cascade Laser (ICL) arrays, Interband Cascade Detector (ICD) arrays and External Cavity Cascade Lasers (EC-CL) and their application in protein sensing. The positions are located in Gerbrunn, Germany and in full-time.

Your tasks

You will receive hands on training on the design and fabrication of active and passive photonic components.
These shall be used in a range of different sensing modalities for measuring protein denaturation.
At the start of the PhD development, fabrication of active components, i.e. light sources, will be carried out at nanoplus.
You will learn to operate the laser individually, enabling multi-wavelengths spectroscopy and determine the most relevant wavelengths for monitoring protein structure.

Your profile

You have completed a degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, natural sciences, nanostructure technology, nanotechnology, or a comparable course of study (university, university of applied sciences, or technical college). As a result, you have gained extensive expertise in the fields of optoelectronics, semiconductor technology, and photonics.
You are fluent in written and spoken English.
You enjoy planning and implementing project steps independently, incorporating your ideas.
You can work in an interdisciplinary team of experts in the field of opto-electronics.
